

DEFINITIONS
In these Program Rules and Regulations,
(a) “Program Sponsors” means Scotiabank and Studentawards Inc.
PROGRAM PERIOD
The Scotiabank Bursary contest commences on January 1, 2010 at 11:59 a.m. (ET) and ends on December 31, 2010 at 11:59 p.m (ET) (the “Contest Period”).
WHO CAN ENTER
This contest is only open to legal residents of Canada of the age of majority in their province of residence and who are enrolled full-time in a publicly funded Canadian college or university within the Contest Period. Employees of either of the Program Sponsors, their respective affiliated and related companies, advertising and promotional agencies, other representatives or agents and members of the respective immediate families of such employees and anyone with whom such employees are domiciled are excluded from this contest.
HOW TO ENTER
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Entrants must complete and submit an application for the ScotiaLine® personal line of credit for students via one of two methods:
1) online at http://www.fundyourfuture.ca
or
https://studentsapplyhere.scotiabank.com/default.asp
or
2) at any Scotiabank branch or download application form at http://www.scotiabank.com/images/en/filespersonal/17118.pdf (submit via fax or mail as described on the application, or at any Scotiabank branch). The ScotiaLine® personal line of credit for students must be approved by The Bank of Nova Scotia (“Scotiabank”) and activated before you will be entered into the contest. To be eligible, applications must be received and approved during the ”Contest Period”.
Once an entrant’s application for a ScotiaLine® personal line of credit for students has been approved their name is submitted for each monthly draw within the Contest Period until the entry wins or until the program period is over; whichever comes first.
All entries become the property of the Program Sponsors, each of whom assumes no responsibility whatsoever for late, lost, destroyed, illegible, incomplete, misidentified or misdirected entries or for any technical, hardware or software malfunctions of any kind, lost or unavailable network, failed or incorrect communications caused by the sender, online communication problems, or for any losses, liabilities or damages whatsoever (including, without limitation, incidental, consequential, special or indirect damages) arising out of or in any way connected with the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the contest.
By entering this contest, entrants agree to abide by the contest rules and regulations and the decisions of the Program Sponsors, which are final.
For a no-purchase entry, hand print the contest name, your name, complete mailing address, telephone number, email address and age, on a plain 3”x 5” piece of paper and mail it in a sealed envelope to: ScotiaLine® personal line of credit for students Bursaries program, Studentawards Inc., 110 Eglinton Ave E, Suite 603, Toronto, Ontario M4P 2Y1. No photocopied, computer generated facsimiles, mechanically reproduced, or mass entries permitted. Program Sponsors are not responsible for any online communication problems, or for any late, lost, misdirected, illegible entries. The entry will be submitted for each monthly contest until the entry wins or until the contest period is over; whichever comes first.
Prizes
There will be a total of Twelve (12) bursaries, each worth $1,000.00 CDN. The bursaries consist of a one thousand Canadian dollar ($1,000.00 CDN) credit to the winner’s ScotiaLine® personal line of credit for students. No Purchase is necessary!
Each bursary must be accepted as awarded and is not transferable. Any applicable taxes relating to the bursary are the responsibility of the winners.
Only one bursary per entrant will be awarded.
PROGRAM DRAWS
On or about February 22, 2010 - March 22, 2010 – April 20, 2010 – May 20, 2010 – June 21, 2010 – July 20, 2010 – August 20, 2010 – September 20, 2010 – October 20, 2010 – November 22, 2010 – December 20, 2010 – January 20, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. (ET) in Toronto, Ontario, contest entries will be drawn at random by Studentawards Inc. from among all eligible entries received to reach a total of 12 entries.
The odds of winning depend on the total number of eligible entries received.
HOW TO CLAIM YOUR PRIZE
In order to win a bursary, a potential winner must each correctly answer, unaided, a time-limited, mathematical skill-testing question. Potential winners will be contacted by telephone or email by a representative of Studentawards Inc. to make arrangements for administering the skill-testing question.
A potential winner will be disqualified and another potential winner will be randomly drawn for the applicable prize, if the entrant:
(a) cannot be contacted by a representative of Studentawards Inc. within a period of five (5) consecutive business days,
(b) skill-testing question cannot be administered within a period of five (5) consecutive business days from the date the entrant is first contacted by a representative of Studentawards Inc., or
(c) fails to answer the skill-testing question correctly.
This process will be repeated until 12 (twelve) bursaries have been awarded.
Arrangements will be made for the awarding of the bursary at the time the skill-testing question is administered and correctly answered.
Each winner will be required to sign the Program Sponsors’ standard form of declaration and release and agree to authorize the Program Sponsors to announce and publish his or her name, address (city and province only) and photograph or image or other likeness, without further compensation or other obligation, at any time and from time to time, in any future publicity
PRIVACY POLICY
The Program Sponsors will use the contestant’s name, full address and telephone number provided in program entries for administration of this program as well as confirmation of approval for the ScotiaLine® personal line of credit for students. In addition, the Program Sponsors may retain and use this information for future marketing of their products and services to you. If you do not wish your information to be retained or to be used for these purposes, please contact Studentawards Inc. for withdrawing consent to use information for marketing purposes.
GENERAL INFORMATION
The Program Sponsors reserve the right at their sole discretion to disqualify any individual that they find, or believe, to be tampering with the contest entry process or any other matter related to the contest. Any attempt by an entrant or other individual to deliberately damage any website or undermine the legitimate operation of this contest is a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made the Contest Sponsors reserve the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law.
The Program Sponsors reserve the right at their sole discretion, subject to the approval of the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux du Quebec, to withdraw, terminate, suspend or modify all or any part of this contest without notice, if for any reason the contest is not capable of running as planned, including technical failure or corruption, computer virus, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud or any other cause beyond the control of the Program Sponsors which in the opinion of the Program Sponsors affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this contest.
The Program Sponsors are not responsible for any human or computer-generated error in the selection of an entrant or the awarding of a prize.
This program is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws.
FOR QUEBEC RESIDENTS ONLY
Any litigation respecting the conduct or organization of this program may be submitted to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux for a ruling. Any litigation respecting the awarding of a prize may be submitted to the Régie only for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement.
