High School Class of 2019 Offers of Admission
University applications are open!  I thought we could start a discussion so that people can see when people get accepted, where they applied and their averages.

I found the 2018 discussion to be very helpful and informative, in that discussion they included the following information;

Program and post-secondary institution
Date of application
Date of offer
Admission average (Grade 11, Grade 12 first semester- basically whatever was used in determining admission qualifications)
Province you're applying from
Any other information you'd like to add.

Nursing Hopefuls for 2019 :)
Hi prospective nursing students! Let's use this thread as a space to share information, questions, concerns, advice, and more with one another as the year progresses.

To get the discussion rolling, start off with your:
• programs of interest (both nursing and non-nursing);
• expected average; and
• career goals!

I'm thinking of applying to McMaster for nursing and health sciences as well as Western for nursing with a 95-96%. I'd like to be a nurse practitioner in the future, but do not have a particular speciality in mind yet.

Queen's PSE
Just wondering how many have submitted, what program, and if it actually helps your chances of getting in?

Laurier BBA vs Ryerson Commerce?
I got accepted to both. Which would be a better choice and why? Pros/cons for each? And is the gap between Laurier BBA and QComm/Ivey significant?

Is Queen's Commerce overpriced?
$hit is crazy expensive compared to a lot of other programs. I know QComm is a top-tier program, but is it really worth that nearly $20k per year price tag (plus around $10k for residence)? Do QComm grads get jobs no other grads from other schools get?

Hey guys, I'm planning to apply to Queens' Commerce program! Take a look at my personal information, and let me know if I have a chance of getting in!

If you are also interested in the program, please post the following:
-Projected Grade 12 average
-Grade 11 average
-Other schools of interest
-When you hear back from the university (acceptance/rejection)

If you are currently/was in the program, please leave some tips and share your averages/ECs in the comments.

A bit about myself...
-Projected Grade 12 average: 92%-95%
-Grade 11 average: 92.6% (includes ICS4U (90%), HRE4M (95%), and MHF4U (97%))
-ECs: VP of 2 Clubs/Councils, member of a local youth council, was a lifeguard/swim instructor.
-Also interested in: UW/WLU BBA/BMath, Rotman Comm, UW AFM, WLU BBA, and Schulich BBA.

Good luck to everyone applying!!

Hello. I applied for Queen’s Engineering and submitted my essay last week. I just noticed that there was a spelling error in my essay. Will that affect my chances at getting it?

Western and Queens Nursing Acceptances 2019
Now that it's February, Western and Queens are giving out more offers to prospective nursing students based on Gr 11 and Gr 12 first semester marks. So I would love if you guys could provide the following info to help each other out. Thanks everyone!

My info:
Gr 11 average: 92.5%
Gr 12 first semester average: 91.75%
Expected top 6 average: 93-94% (I have a pretty easy second semester)
Date of application: November 25
When did you submit your PSE (for Queens): First week Feb, I think
Date of acceptance: Patiently waiting...
When did OUAC send in your first semester marks? Feb 14. (I thought this would be nice to add because some schools submit marks earlier than others, which affects when they receive offers)

Also, does anyone know what the cut-off was for Western last year??
Queens Health Sciences Admission Average
Heyy! I applied to QU Health Sciences and I understand that they are recruiting their first class ever as it is a new program. I have seen on their website that they anticipate that the admission average will be 90%. What do you all think it will be around? Do you guys think it will be higher or lower? Just curious... Thanks for your opinions!

What should I do? Western BMOS??
I got accepted into the BMOS at UWO (Not Ivey AEO) and since I have enough credits, I am able to be admitted straight into 2nd year of the program.
Should I do it??

I also have been accepted to these schools:
Laurier BBA
Ryerson Management
McMasters Business 1
and my grades should allow me to get into Queen's Commerce and UTSC Management Co-op.

My eventual goal is to get an MBA (I'm not too sure which area of business I want to work in yet). What do you think I should do?

Queen’s Health Science?
So I was on the QueensU website recently and found out that their Health Science program is offered both online and on campus? I thought it was online only so is this a new development from queens? I’m trying to learn more about it but there’s not much online about it (the on campus program), so I’m assuming it’s new. Does anyone know anything about this program? Thank you!

Waterloo Afmaa and Queens commerce PSE/SE fee?
I'm finished with my applications, I was charged 50 dollars on ouac as a program fee when I applied to waterloo so I was just wondering if this was for the afmaa.

Also, I was wondering if there is a fee for the queens pse/se if you're applying to commerce.
Queens Health Science Admission Average
Sooo the admission average said 86+ a few weeks ago and now it says 90+ i'm scared. How competitive is it and how many spots?

Has anyone received the quarms supplementary application from Queens University?

Schulich Reference
For the Schulich leader scholarship application we need at least one reference to be from a school staff member. Should it be from any teacher or a science/math teacher who can comment on my academics? I got it from a teacher who can talk about my leadership but now I am wondering if the reference had to be more about the type of student I am.

Queens PSE question
For the queens pse, it says for the extracurricular section to identify the total number of hours you have devoted or expect to devote to each activity.

My question is do I have to write in the description of each activity, "I have devoted 20 hours to this activity," or is this portion of the question covered by your start and end date/hours a week/weeks a year?

So my grade 12 semester 1 marks were just submitted to OUAC, I have a 91% average. Do you think that’ll be good enough to be accepted to queens arts (health studies intended major) and western health sci? My grade 11 average was less than favourable (74%) so I’m not sure...are they still looking at grade 11 marks now that they have grade 12? Do you think I’ll have to wait until they get grade 12 semester 2 midterm marks?

First Year Engineering at Queens
Hey y'all,

So last year while I was applying for uni, and I saw a thread where a first year student answered questions about the program and talked about how their experience in the program was so far. I found this very helpful at the time in guiding me to choose Queens Eng.

I got into Queen's with a 93 avg, and didn't receive an offer until around mid May. The workload in Eng is intense at first, and the first semester really hits hard. Your marks from highschool will typically dip by 10-30 percent. The workload comes in waves I find: meaning some weeks get intense (usually around mid-terms). Of course this is all manageable, and as long as you don't fall behind, you'll be completely fine. I chose Queen's mainly because of the open first year, as I did not know what type of Engineering I wanted to go into. I have to decide later this month, but I think I'll either go into Chemical Engineering (Biomedical option) or Mechanical Engineering.

If you guys have any questions about Eng, Queen's Eng, Queen's or Uni life in general, I'd be happy to answer.

Hey! I know I was really nervous this time of year last year and had loads of questions so if any aspiring nurses have any questions about Queen's nursing or applying to other schools across Canada i'll do my best to answer!
